夕陽為背景的主塔外型和觀音菩薩及背後身光的旨趣
觀音山是淡水的象徵，外形看似觀音菩薩側臥，這也是山名的由來。此地的民眾對這觀音山崇敬有加，認為此地受到觀音庇佑。佛像後方的身光乃自佛智所放，能加護眾生之光明。若主塔形似身光，以夕陽為背景的主塔會呈現觀音在塔內的獨特景色。
The view of the main tower with the background of the sunset looks like Guanyin and his halo.
Mount Guanyin, as a symbol of Tamsui, resembles the pose of Guanyin nehan-zo(nirvana), the origin of the mountain’s name. People in the area respect the precious mountain, feeling that they are protected by the power of Guanyin. The aureole behind a Guanyin statue is said to form the halo light generated by Guanyin. If the main towers resemble the halo, the shape of the main towers with the background of the sunset looks like Guanyin inside the towers, representing the unique relationship with the sunset.
